There’s no better way of getting a feel for a university than attending an open day, even if it’s a virtual one. The Host website has a blog all answering the question of why you should visit an open day. Even though lockdown has temporarily ended many open days; luckily most universities are holding virtual events so you can still get a feel for what studying at that university could be like.


Queen Mary University of London:

Queen Mary offers over 240-degree programmes across three faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Medicine and Dentistry. The university is holding on-demand open days that allow you to explore life as an undergraduate at Queen Mary. The great thing about this open day is that it’s available 24/7 so you can view whenever you want.

The open day allows you to explore:

  • Subject Areas.
  • The Campus via a tour video.
  • Student support services.
  • The admissions process.
  • Support for Student Finance.

If you are a final year undergraduate student already studying at Queen Mary or are considering Queen Mary for Postgraduate student, there is an online postgraduate open evening on Thursday 18 March between 5-7 pm, you can register for this postgraduate open day here.

Queen Mary University is the closest university to The Hive with a 15-minute walk or 5-minute bike ride away.


Coventry University London:

Coventry Uni’s London campus is located within the City of London and is one of the largest providers of business-related degree courses in Europe.

The next undergraduate open day takes place on Saturday 20 February between 11am and 2pm and will allow you to find out more about :

  • The courses and study modules
  • Teaching and learning will take place.

And you will be able to view:

  • information stands about academic and pastoral support, health and wellbeing and sports opportunities,
  • interactive presentations from academic tutors and current students.

To attend the open day, you have to register online which can be done here. You can also take a virtual tour of the campus.

Coventry University London is a 9-minute bike ride, 12-minute Tube ride on the Central Line or 30-minute walk away from The Hive.


UAL: London College of Fashion:

The London College of Fashion offers over 60 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in all things fashion.
Undergraduate open days take place between September and November each year, keep a lookout from May to book onto one of these days. However, if you want to continue your studies at postgrad, we have some good news! There are a series of virtual open evenings taking place in February and March:

On each of the virtual open days, you will meet the course leader in a live Q&A session. To join the open day, you have to book in advance using the links above.

London College of Fashion is a 20-minute walk and Tube ride on the Central Line away from The Hive and when the college moves to a brand-new site in 2023 on the East Bank in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park it’ll be even closer with just a 15-minute walk and Tube ride!


GCU London:

GCU is the postgraduate campus of Glasgow Caledonian University in London, located in Spitfields the university is perfect for commuting to and from The Hive. Unlike the other universities GCU has cancelled all their open day events for the foreseeable future but there is an email address on this page for you to get in touch with the university about studying at GCU.

GCU London is a 22-minute walk or 7-minute bike ride away from The Hive.
